MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, anonymous threats of violence were posted on Yik Yak social media, promising to attack "every black person" on campus later in the day.
"We are aware… MUPD is investigating reports. There is no immediate threat to campus," the Police Department said in a statement posted on its Twitter account.
Earlier in the day, the university said it had increased security on campus amid calls from students to cancel classes and declare an emergency.
The threats come following university president Tim Wolfe’s Monday resignation for a perceived failure to respond to complaints about institutionalized racism at the school.
