BRUSSELS(Sputnik) — At least 30,000 foreign militants from 100 countries are currently fighting in Syria and Iraq, the Belgian foreign minister said Monday.
"We have 30,000 foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq from the moment, coming from 100 different countries," Didier Reynders said before the EU foreign ministers' meeting commenting on the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
According to him, only a wider exchange of intelligence data with France will help to detect people with a high level of radicalization.
Reynders noted that Belgium and France were cooperating well, in order to find all the perpetrators of the Paris attacks.
On late Friday, extremists wearing explosive belts and carrying automatic weapons attacked several sites across Paris, killing around 130 and injuring over 350 at restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France sports arena.
The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks in the French capital.
