WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Police took a woman suspected of causing a shooter situation in downtown Washington, DC on Monday into custody, the Washington DC Police Department's spokeswoman told Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, an armed person in alleged mental health crisis barricaded in an office building near the White House in the northwest of Washington DC. Several blocks near the busy interception where the incident was developing had been closed.
"There one person in custody, an adult female," DC police spokeswoman Aquita Brown told Sputnik after the situation had been contained.
Brown also told Sputnik that so far there had been "no reported injuries."
According to media reports, the suspect was taken into custody around 10:45 a.m. local time (15:45 GMT).
