"Multiple people shot, one dead in front of Southern Tavern on Youngstown's Southside," an ABC-affiliated WKBN reporter wrote on his Facebook account.
The reporter said a crowd had gathered at the site of the shooting to hold a vigil for the victim.
Youngstown has the dubious honor of having the worst job market in the United States, according to Forbes. Additionally, as of 2007, Youngstown had the lowest median income of any US city with more than 65,000 residents, according to CNNMoney.com. Between 1960 and 2010, the city's population declined by over 60%, and the city's vacant housing rate is twenty times the national average, according to the New York Times.
According to a Gallup poll of 176,000 people throughout the United States, Youngstown was the worst community for personal well-being among the country's 100 most populous urban areas. The city is word-class bad according to Buzzfeed, which ranked it one of the 10 bleakest places on Earth in 2013.
