PARIS (Sputnik) — Speaking at a congress of French city mayors, the French leader said:
"Before a person can enter the European territory, the territory of France, screening will be carried out to prove that he does not represent risk for the country."
He added that France remains committed to receive some 30,000 refugees during the next two years as part of the EU mandatory quota system to relocate some 160,000 refugees residing in Italy, Greece and Hungary among the bloc's member states.
Greek and Serbian officials said that they had registered a Syrian passport recovered near the body of one of the November 13 suicide bombers as belonging to an asylum seeker last month. The passport, thought to be forged, has reignited fear among some Europeans that extremists are hiding among the hundreds of thousands migrants who have arrived to Europe this year.
