WASHINGTON (Sputnik), Leandra Bernstein — Europe may decide to become more active in the military campaign against ISIL after the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris last week, US House Armed Services Committee chairman Mac Thornberry told Sputnik.
"Sometimes they [Europeans] do not reach decisions quickly, but I suspect they all understand it could have been them," Thornberry said on Wednesday of the impact of the French terror attacks on Europe.
Asked if he saw Europe becoming more engaged in the military campaign against the ISIL, he commented, "I hope so," noting that France is "determined to strike back" after terrorists carried out multiple attacks in Paris last week.
Among the European members in the US-led campaign against the ISIL, only France is carrying out military operations in Syria.
