WASHINGTON (Sputnik), Leandra Bernstein — The United States does not have to coordinate its military action with Russia, but it should not impede Russian efforts to destroy terrorist targets in Syria, US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher told Sputnik.
"I do not think people necessarily have to have coordinated effort, we just should not try to impede Russia or anybody else from killing Islamic terrorists who want to kill people in the west," Rohrabacher told Sputnik on Wednesday.
Following Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris, French President Francois Hollande called on the United States and Russia to join efforts against the Islamic State in Syria.
The Pentagon has stated that the United States has no plans to coordinate with Russia its military operations against the Islamic State.
On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reiterated that Moscow expects Western countries to follow France's stance on cooperating with Russia in the fight against terrorism.
