BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The European Commission is analyzing possibilities of cooperation with Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), a EU source said Thursday.
"Commission services are preparing a study on potential options for cooperation with the EEU," the source told RIA Novosti.
The source confirmed that EC President Jean-Claude Juncker sent a relevant letter earlier this week to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The letter does not represent any new position and provides no commitments," the source said.
"It simply reiterates the President's readiness to consider possible engagement with the EEU in due course, in consultation with Member States and in synchronization with the implementation of Minsk Agreements," he added.
