MANILA (Sputnik) – An International Monetary Fund (IMF) official presented a report at the first plenary session, followed by heads of states and governments of the 21 APEC members.
The second session centered around inclusive growth through the development of balanced and sustainable communities, followed by a working dinner, where the leaders were treated to national Philippine cuisine.
The APEC plenary session, underway in the Philippine capital of Manila, opened on Wednesday.
With a combined population of 2.8 billion and accounting for about 57 percent of global GDP and 47 percent of world trade, the APEC region is the most rapidly developing economic zone in the world.
APEC is an international forum established to facilitate economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
