BANGKOK (Sputnik) – On August 17, an explosion in the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok killed 20 people, including foreign tourists, and injured over 100.
According to the Khao Sod newspaper, two Uighur men, Mohammad Bilal and Yusufu Mieraili, were charged with 10 offenses, including exploding a device in a public place and murder, but not with terrorism.
The investigators reportedly believe that the motive behind the bombing was an act of revenge on Thai police for their dismantling of an illegal network that facilitated migration of Uighurs from China through Thailand.
