BEIJING (Sputnik) — The spokesman added that the new center would facilitate the task of refueling and restocking Chinese ships and would also be used by sailors and officers for recreation purposes.
"China and Djibouti are currently conducting consultations on the construction of a logistics center. This infrastructure will help the Chinese military to carry out humanitarian rescue missions, as well as the task of escorting ships in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters," Wu said during a press conference.
Beijing currently has no military bases abroad and the proposed logistics center will be "the provision object", according to Wu.
