WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Army has awarded Sikorsky Company $833 million contract to perform maintenance, the US Department of Defense announced.
"Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., Stratford, Connecticut, was awarded an $833.3 modification contract for… Army fixed engineering sustaining, program management/systems engineering sustaining," the contract, which was announced on Monday, stated.
Sikorsky will carry out most of the maintenance work at its Stratford, Connecticut, facilities over the next year, the Defense Department noted.
The contract’s completion date is December 31, 2016, according to the announcement.
Sikorsky produces the US Army’s heavily-armed UH-60 Black Hawk ground support helicopters.
In November 2015, Lockheed Martin purchased Sikorsky from the United Technologies Corporation for $9 billion.
