MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh in the Arab world) in Syria would only aggravate the suffering of local civilians, Labour Party’s leader Jeremy Corbyn said Wednesday.
“More bombing in Syria will kill innocent civilians, there is no doubt about that, and will turn many more Syrians in the refugees,” he said speaking during one-day debates in the House of Commons ahead of a vote to launch airstrikes in Syria.
London has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh, which is a banned organization in many countries including Russia and the United States, in Iraq since September 2014 as part of a US-led international coalition against the extremist group. Cameron has long called for the extension of airstrikes to Syria.
