WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Flights between Paris and Iran’s capital Tehran will resume in April of next year after nearly eight years since the non-stop route was suspended, Air France announced in a statement on Tuesday.
"Air France is supporting the resumption of commercial exchange with Iran and will serve Teheran from Paris-Charles de Gaulle three times a week (on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) starting in April 2016," the statement said.
The decision comes after Iran and the P5+1 group of countries signed an agreement in July guaranteeing the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The P+1 group comprises the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany.
Also on Tuesday, Air France announced it would launch daily flights between Paris and New York City beginning in June 2016.
