The seizure came a day after government troops, supported by Russian and Syrian airstrikes, destroyed a tunnel that was being used by the terrorists in Hama's eastern countryside.  About 18 Daesh militants were killed in the strikes.

It was also reported that Russian warplanes bombed Daesh positions all across Hama province to support the Syrian ground troops' large-scale offensive against the militants.

In particular, Russian aircraft targeted the terrorists' positions in the village of al-Qahera in western Hama.

In a separate development, two more Russian airstrikes destroyed Daesh targets in the villages of Jana al-Albawi and al-Dakila in Hama's eastern areas.

Earlier, the Syrian airstrikes hit Daesh militants' strongholds in the strategic city of al-Quaryatayn in Homs province in central Syria. Scores of terrorists were reportedly killed in the air raids.

Russia launched its air campaign on September 30, when more than fifty Russian aircraft, including the Su-24M, the Su-25 and the Su-34 commenced precision airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Syria at the behest of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
