MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Mass surveillance and computerization is winning out over humanity and human values all over the world, the founder of the WikiLeaks whistleblowing website, Julian Assange, said Thursday.
"In this competition between humanity and human values and mass surveillance and computerization, mass surveillance and computerization is winning," Assange said in an address to an international conference organized by the broadcaster RT in Moscow.
Assange launched the not-for-profit media organization WikiLeaks in 2006. He has been residing at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012, out of fear of being extradited, first to Sweden where he has been accused of sexual assault, and ultimately, to the United States where he could face espionage charges for publishing secret documents.
