He stressed that the supply of arms to Taiwan is part of Washington’s interference in Chinese internal affairs, and it would obstruct the peaceful development of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as damage US-China relations.
“We urge the US to adhere to their commitments and to stop supplying arms to Taiwan,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry of China said.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing sources in the US Congress that the Obama administration could in this week approve the sale of two-missile frigates to Taiwan, “despite the objections of China.” If the deal goes through, the sale of the missile frigates to Taiwan will be the first in four years, during which the United States did not sell any arms to Taiwan.
