WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Lockheed Martin won a $215 million foreign sales contract to sell night vision systems for Apache attack helicopters to India, the US Department of Defense announced.
"Lockheed Martin Global Inc., Orlando, Florida was awarded a $215,777,416… foreign military sales (India) contract for Modernized Target Acquisition Designation/Pilot Night Vision Systems for Apache helicopters," the announcement said on Wednesday.
Work on the contract will be performed in Orlando, Florida with an estimated completion date of December 31, 2021, the Defense Department stated.
India has been seeking to diversify its military purchases. On December 4, the Indian Defense Ministry announced it was planning to buy Russian-made Kamov Ka-226T light multirole helicopters, and would then consider joint production of them with Moscow.
