MADRID (Sputnik) – Spain’s ruling People’s Party wins parliamentary elections, but lost the absolute majority of the seats in the legislature, the preliminary voting results posted on the Interior Ministry’s website revealed.
With nearly 16 percent of the votes counted, the ruling conservatives led by country's current Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy obtained 118 mandates.
The Socialist Workers' Party ranked second with 97 mandates, whereas the left-wing Podemos secured 63 seats.
The Ciudadanos (translated as Citizens) center-left movement came fourth with 27 mandates.
