MOSCOW (Sputnik) — NATO military activity is posing a growing threat to Russia's national security, Secretary of Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said.
"NATO's drive to increase and modernize its offensive capabilities, to deploy a global missile defense network, including around Russia's borders, washes out the structure of global security," Patrushev said in an interview with the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper published on Tuesday.
"Assurances by some Western leaders that NATO is a purely defensive alliance set up to safeguard global security are simply meant to disguise its aggressive nature," Patrushev stressed.
