Sergei Dankvert, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, had a meeting with his colleague from the Agricultural Chamber of the French Cotes d'Armor, Olivier Allain.
"The French side said they wanted to resume the supply of agricultural products to Russia," the statement of the Russian watchdog said.
In the past the scores of trucks filled with agricultural products came to Russia from the French province of Brittany. But currently, this trade has been completely stopped and it has a huge negative impact on the French farming industry, the report said.
In August of 2014, Russia issued a one-year ban on the import of food from the EU, the United States and some other Western countries in response to anti-Russian sanctions imposed against it over the Ukrainian crisis.
At that time, Russia was the EU's second-biggest market for food exports. The list of products includes meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy products, fruit and vegetables.
