MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) party got 112 seats in the elections held on December 6, while the President Nicolas Maduro’s party got 55.
"We will focus primarily on socioeconomic initiatives, as we need to demonstrate that our work will be different from what it was before," Aveledo told RIA Novosti.
Aveledo urged to solve any contradiction between the legislative and executive authorities in the country constitutionally.
The main initiatives in the social and economic sphere, considered by the opposition, include the adoption of laws to address the shortage of goods and food, the improvement of production in the country, the revision of the facts of the expropriation of property by the state and the guarantees for investors.
The new National Assembly of Venezuela is due to begin work on January 5, 2016.
