"As we get closer to Implementation Day, the next major milestone in the JCPOA, I am pleased to report that we have seen important indications of significant progress towards Iran completing its key nuclear commitments under the deal," Kerry stated.
On July 14, Iran and the P5+1 group comprising of the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany, signed a nuclear agreement also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The agreement guarantees the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
Under the agreement, Tehran agreed to reduce its stock of enriched uranium, decrease the number of centrifuges in the country and reconfigure the Arak heavy-water reactor, as well as refrain from any uranium enrichment at its Fordow facility.
