MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "US law enforcement bodies practice illegal methods of extraterritorial application of its laws in relation to Russian nationals in third countries. At present, we have registered 22 warrants issued by the US authorities to arrest Russian nationals in third countries for them to be extradited to the United States," Dolgov told the Izvestia newspaper.
In line with his words, he recalled the two most recent cases, when Alexei Burkov was detained on a US warrant in Israel on December 15, and Yuri Efremov was detained at Finland's airport at the US request on December 23.
The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the cases, and called for the strict observance of all constitutional guarantees, international law and human rights of the arrested.
Moscow also condemned such extraterritorial use of US laws in respect to Russian citizens, which has taken on "chronic nature."
