Captain David Manero Appointed US Defense Attache to Russia

Captain David Manero has been assigned as the new Defense Attaché to Russia, the US Department of Defense announced in a press release on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Manero is currently serving as special assistant to the Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the press release.

Putin to Obama: Russia, US Could Effectively Counter Challenges, Threats
US Secretary of the Navy Ray Maybus and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson announced the assignment on Thursday.

Manero will replace the current Defense Attaché in Moscow, Brigadier General Bruce McClintock.

The Office of the US Defense Attaché is the primary point of contact for all joint US-Russia military activities and communications on defense matters between the two countries.
