MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In the video released Friday by a known al-Qaeda affiliate Shabab, Trump can be seen calling for a complete "shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States, according to the New York Times.

The video also featured speeches by white supremacists. It called on US citizens to convert to Islam and engage in jihad both inside the United States and abroad.

Trump’s proposal, which is part of his strategy of how to end religion-related violence in the country, ignited a debate in the United States, with other Republicans and Democrats alike standing up against the billionaire businessman.

Trump is a Republican frontrunner in the US presidential race. The real-estate mogul has been criticized for his controversial statements, including in relation to women, immigrants and Muslims.
