WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The citizens of Ukraine say quality of life in the country has reached the lowest point in 2015, a Gallup poll revealed on Monday.
“As their outlook on life continues to get worse, fewer residents in Ukraine are considered ‘thriving’ than ever before,” Gallup stated.
The respondents gave their current quality of life 4 points out of 10, with ratings dropping among all age groups and both genders, according to the poll.
“Ukrainians' optimism about the future also dimmed last year, with their ratings of their lives in five years sinking to a new low of 5.2,” Gallup noted.
The poll showed that the number of citizens describing the economic situation in Ukraine as “poor” has increased by 17 percent, reaching 79 percent in 2015. Only 17 percent of the Ukrainians report they are satisfied with their quality of life.
Ukraine’s real Gross Domestic Product contracted by nearly 20 percent in 2014-15, according to the Moody’s rating agency.
