MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Sky News Arabia broadcaster, Aidarous Zubaidi was accompanied by the head of the Lahij Governorate and military commanders when the attack took place. The attack reportedly killed one Zubaidi's bodyguards.
The incident comes days after the Aden authorities declared a curfew following the Sunday attack in the city, which left 17 people killed.
In early December, previous Aden's governor Jaafar Mohammed Saad was killed in an attack on his convoy. Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack.
Yemen has been in a state of military conflict between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Houthi rebels, supported by army units loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, since early 2014.
