TOKYO (Sputnik) — "Defense Ministers Han Min-goo and Gen Nakatani during a telephone conversation agreed on information exchange between Japan, South Korea and the United States, and to work closely on the situation concerning North Korea," the South Korean Defense Ministry said in a press release.
Japan's defense minister also warned that North Korea's nuclear test is in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
On Wednesday, Pyongyang announced it had successfully carried out the first test of a hydrogen bomb. The international community has condemned the test as provocative, and undermining stability in the region.
The UN resolutions 1718 and 1814 urge Pyongyang to refrain from nuclear tests and reengage in talks on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
