MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Islamic State (ISIL, or Daesh in Arabic) has claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack on Egyptian police officers in the country's capital Cairo, Al Arabiya said Saturday.
The Saturday afternoon attack in Cairo that left a police officer and a recruit dead.
The servicemen were shot on their way to work in a car, according to earlier reports by the Egyptian media. Unidentified assailants fled after the incident. Egyptian law enforcement is currently searching for attackers, reports said.
On Friday, unidentified gunmen attacked the Bella Vista Hotel in the Egyptian resort city of Hurghada on the Red Sea coast, injuring three foreign tourists. On Thursday, two gunmen attacked a tourist bus in Giza, in close proximity to the Egyptian pyramids. No injuries were reported.
