NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump maintains a small lead over Ted Cruz in the US state of Iowa, a new poll revealed.
"Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz are locking in their lead among Iowa likely Republican Caucus participants, with Trump at 31 percent and Cruz at 29 percent," the Quinnipiac University poll stated on Monday.
In mid-December, Trump stood at 28 percent while Cruz gained 27 percent, according to the poll.
"The Iowa Republican Caucuses are tight as a tick entering the final two weeks of the campaign," Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Peter Brown said.
The pollsters surveyed 602 Iowa likely Republican Caucus participants on January 5–10.
