Switzerland has been making steps recently to attract Chinese capital and become a hub for international transactions in the Chinese currency renminbi.
Last year, a Swiss banking regulator granted license to China Construction Bank after the two countries struck a bilateral currency swap agreement in 2014. The two nations also signed a free trade deal last summer.
China’s Xinhua news agency said Friday that Beijing and Bern were to agree on repatriation of fugitive corruption suspects and stolen assets, as well as on judicial assistance in criminal investigations.
This year, China is due to host the Group of 20 Summit of world powers. Beijing has invited Swiss authorities to take part in preparations for the financial discussion within the G20 framework, which will deal with corruption.
