New US Sanctions to Have Zero Impact on North Korea
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Beijing for talks with Chinese leaders on the North Korean nuclear program as well as other issues, Department of State spokesperson John Kirby said in a statement on Friday.

"Secretary Kerry will… travel to Beijing, People's Republic of China, on January 27 for meetings with senior leaders of the Chinese government ‎to discuss a range of global, regional and bilateral issues, including North Korea," Kirby stated.

Beijing will be Kerry’s last major stop on his global trip that includes talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at Geneva on Syria, attending the annual World Economic Forum in Davos and meeting Saudi leaders and Arab Gulf foreign ministers in the Middle East, Kirby explained.

The talks in Beijing will be held three weeks after North Korea detonated another underground nuclear device on February 6.

Pyongyang claimed it had successfully tested a thermonuclear fusion device, or hydrogen bomb, but the US government and scientists around the word expressed skepticism at the claim and said it appeared to be a regular or enhanced fission Atomic bomb.
