GORKI, January 15 (Sputnik) — Russia's government will increase support for the country's auto industry, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Friday.
"If there were plans before to reduce support for the automotive industry, this cannot be done now, a decision has been made not only to maintain support, but to increase it. Such proposals have been prepared," Medvedev said.
However, Russia's 2016 budget is in need of serious cuts and a range of project must be scrapped, the Russian prime minister noted.
"We will assess which expenses can be cut and, unfortunally, they will have to be cut significantly this time," Medvedev said, adding that the government would decide what projects should be abandoned.
