ROME (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Italy’s embassy in the Afghan capital has been hit by a rocket. Local media reported that two Afghan nationals, who used to ensure safety of the embassy, were injured in the attack.
"We're all fine, the situation is calm and we keep up our spirits," Pezzotti said on Sunday, as quoted by the Italian L'Unione Sarda newspaper.
He added that the explosion occurred "just outside the entrance of the compound."
Afghanistan is experiencing political, social and security instability, as the Taliban Islamic movement and other radical extremist organizations such as Daesh militant group, prohibited in many countries, including the United States and Russia, continue staging attacks against civilian and state targets, seeking to establish the rule of Sharia law in the country.
