MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A US delegation is due to visit Israel next week to work out the final details of a new 10-year military aid package with Israel, local media reported Tuesday, citing a source involved in the talks.
The US National Security Council members are expected to discuss the finalization of the technical aspects of a military aid agreement with their Israeli counterparts, the Haaretz newspaper reported, citing the source.
Under the current deal, the United States transfers $3.1 billion-worth of aid to Israel annually and expects to increase that amount to $5 billion a year for the next 10 years.
The payment under the new US-Israeli Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on military aid package is slated for October 2018 after the present decade-long aid arrangement expires.
Talks on extending the deal beyond 2017 were called off by Israel in August 2015 following the US signing of the Iran nuclear agreement.
