NIZHNY NOVGOROD (Sputnik) – On Thursday, a British court accused Russian authorities of poisoning Litvinenko with the radioactive isotope polonium-210 in 2006.
"The peak of information on the report on the Litvinenko case fell on Friday. With the passing weekend, we have received no requests from the United Kingdom," Konovalov told RIA Novosti.
A year-long investigation chaired by retired High Court Judge Robert Owen concluded that Litvinenko’s former colleagues Dmitry Kovtun and Andrey Lugovoy deliberately poisoned him with polonium-210. Lugovoy has previously argued British experts ruled out his involvement in the murder after he had passed a lie detector test.
The Russian Foreign Ministry criticized the inquiry as politicized and lacking transparency, and said it had an adverse effect on Moscow-London relations.
