STAVROPOL (Sputnik) – Turkey made a major mistake by downing a Russian Su-24 military aircraft, and Moscow's reaction to this incident is more than reserved, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.
"We believe that the Turkish leadership made a huge mistake by downing our aircraft, and then the people they were allegedly protecting shot our pilot. Our reaction to this war crime is more than reserved," Putin said at the All-Russia People's Front forum.
The president added that Russia would expand restrictions against around 300 Turkish companies involved in the construction business in Russia. He underscored that existing contracts would not be affected by these measures as this could harm Russia itself.
