"The past year has clearly demonstrated the fact that no [EU] country is able to solve the problem of migration crisis in the EU alone. This crisis is a challenge to the values of the European Union," Rinkevics said addressing the parliament. The minister stressed that the migrant crisis is a number one problem for the bloc.
Rinkevics added that behavior of some refugees is unworthy and unacceptable, and requires responsive measures.
The European Union is currently struggling to manage a massive refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
Concerns about behavior of some migrants rose through the European Union after hundreds of criminal complaints were filed by women in Germany accusing small groups of purportedly Arab and North African men with robbing, threatening or sexually assaulting them on New Year’s Eve.
