"Vladimir Vladimirovich is unaware of this development," Peskov said. "Also, we don’t know whether Dicaprio actually expressed his desire to play the role of Putin – assuming that such a role actually exists – because we’re unaware about any statements made by Dicaprio himself regarding this subject."
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Leonardo Dicaprio had allegedly given his approval to take part in a casting for the role of Vladimir Putin in an upcoming biopic by a US-based company called Knightsbridge Entertainment about the life of Russia’s President. However, Valery Saaryan, one of the company’s top managers, said that these reports came as a surprise to him.
"I can only confirm that there are four A-list actors taking part in the casting for this role, and that the movie will be directed by a man who won two Academy Awards," Saaryan said.
During a previous interview with German newspaper Die Welt, Leonardo Dicaprio confessed that he would love to play the role of Vladimir Putin if such an opportunity was to presents itself. Bringing the image of the Russian president onscreen would be a 'very, very interesting task' for him, the Hollywood celebrity added.
