YEKATERINBURG (Sputnik) – Under the July 2015 deal between Tehran and six world powers, the UN Security Council will be deciding on conventional arms deliveries to Iran on a case-by-case basis.
Asked by RIA Novosti whether Uralvagonzavod was willing to produce tanks in Iran under a Russian license, Vice President Alexei Zharich replied, "Yes… We have always said we want to work together [with Iran]."
In 2010, the United Nations imposed an arms embargo on Iran that banned supplies of major conventional weapons to the country. These restrictions remain in place and are due to be lifted five years after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)'s adoption day.
