MUNICH (Sputnik) – High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini has arrived at a meeting of the International Support Group for Syria in Munich, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the scene Thursday.
The format includes representatives of numerous countries, including the United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, as well as the United Nations and the European Union.
ISSG was formed in November shortly after the beginning of the Syria peace talks in Vienna as an international format aiming to resolve the Syrian crisis.
On December 18, the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2254, reaffirming the goals of the previous Vienna deals to bring the entire spectrum of political groups in the crisis-torn country to the negotiating table.
