“The model samples are made in the design of pistols, machine guns and other products. They can be used for shooting, but their main task is to test various design decisions,” the concern reported.

At the moment, the Kalashnikov concern has refused to name the types of weapons which are being produced using this new technology, online publication RNS reported.

The Kalashnikov Concern, the Russia's largest manufacturer of a wide range of civil products including hunting rifles and shotguns, sporting rifles, machines and tools, exports its products to 27 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Italy, Canada, Kazakhstan and Thailand.

An estimated 100 million AK-47s have been built worldwide since it went into mass production in February 1947. The reliable and easy-to-use assault rifle is still favored by an assortment of armed forces, guerrilla groups, terrorists and even common thugs in at least 55 countries.

Derivatives of the AK-47, which has a vodka and even a rap song named in its honor, are produced in about 30 countries, including Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Finland, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Sweden and South Africa.
