WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Trump received 32.4 percent of the votes, while Rubio and Ted Cruz received 22.4 percent and 22.3 percent, respectively, Decision Desk reported on Saturday night.
The South Carolina primary is the second victory for Trump in the US Republican presidential contest after he won in the US state of New Hampshire on February 9.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush won 7.9 percent of the vote, Ohio Governor John Kasich 7.6 percent and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson 7.2 percent. Bush announced he was dropping out of the presidential race.
On March 1, the presidential candidates will compete in primaries and caucuses in 12 US states, the biggest election day on the election calendar called "Super Tuesday."
