MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia expects its partners in the International Syria Support group to help ensure the participation of a broad range of Syrian opposition representatives in the intra-Syrian negotiations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Wednesday.
"We will continue to work towards the earliest launch of inclusive intra-Syrian negotiations in Geneva under UN auspices, with the aim of Syria's government and opposition creating a joint governance structure, and the subsequent development of a new constitution, based on which general elections must be held," Zakharova said in a statement.
"At the same time, we expect our partners in the International Syria Support Group to make efforts to ensure a truly representative Syrian opposition delegation taking part in talks with the Syrian government," the statement reads.
