Putin: Russia, Belarus Agree to Strenghten Cooperation on Economic Issues
MINSK (Sputnik) — Russia and Belarus are yet to continue discussions on providing Minsk with financial aid from Moscow, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said Thursday.

"The discussion on the issue is due to be continued," Storchak told journalists.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed in mid-December a possibility of providing Minsk with a loan from the funds of the Eurasian Economic Union, but no decision was made that time.

Last week, Lukashenko said that Russia would assist Belarus financially through the Eurasian Development Bank.

A source in the financial and economic bloc of the Russian government told RIA Novosti earlier in the day that the issue of the loan to Belarus would be discussed during Putin's visit to Minsk.
