WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Leonardo DiCaprio won this year's Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 2016 Oscars for portraying Hugh Glass, an American frontiersman in "The Revenant". A lot of people were happy to see DiCaprio finally win the coveted award after having been nominated six previous times.
The winner was announced at the 88th Academy Awards in Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on Sunday night. The ceremony was broadcast live on ABC, one of America's 'big three' television networks.
The other nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role included Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne.
