NEW DELHI (Sputnik) – Security measures have been reinforced in the Indian capital of New Delhi and other major cities due to information about possible terrorist attacks, local media reported Monday, citing police.
Earlier, intelligence reports emerged, claiming 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists had entered the country through the western state of Gujarat from Pakistan, plotting terror acts at the Shiva temples across the nation, including at the Somnath temple in Gujarat.
"We have deployed teams at various strategic positions, including markets, malls, temples, etc. Also, we have asked personnel to keep a check on suspicious vehicles and activities," a senior police official was quoted as saying by the India Today newspaper.
The police detachments are currently patrolling the streets, and video surveillance has been strengthened.
