MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Danish teenager who was detained over the possession of explosives in January had planned to bomb two schools, the Danish Security Intelligence Service (PET) said Tuesday in a statement.
On January 13, the 15-year-old Danish girl converted to Islam was detained in the Danish town of Kundby over plans of carrying out a terrorist attack, along with a man who had previously fought alongside extremists in Syria.
"The now 16-year-old girl and the 24-year-old man are charged with a terrorist attempt… by having planned a blast at the Sydskolen [school] in Farevejle and the Caroline School in Copenhagen," the statement reads.
Denmark is one of several European countries that stepped up security in November 2015, after at least 130 people were killed and over 350 injured in suicide bombings and shootings at several locations in Paris.
