Worldwide famous photographer Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz crafted the stunning Fallen Angels calendar using milk and lights. Sputnik reveals the message this project sends, its meaning for the author and how it was created.
Jaroslav admits that the Fallen Angels bears a deep personal significance for him, as he embarked on it four years ago when his mother was struggling against breast cancer.
His mother is still battling the decease but Jaroslav has lost a lot of other people dear to him. He dedicated the work to them.
“You can find in that set images related to my mother’s battle with breast cancer, cases of severe depression in my family, my gay friends that were moving from country to country to find their peace, soldiers coming home wounded from war or simply my fear of constantly passing time,” the photographer elaborated as quoted by Thephoblographer.com.
To technically achieve the shots, models posed in a “cage” of reflectors, and milk was poured onto them. Jaroslav used Listolite panels to attain the soft three-dimensional light he needed to depict big angel wings.
The key point was to find the right angle for taking photos and capture the “wings.”
The artist emphasized that he loved this body of work as it gave his mind a lot of creative freedom.
Though throwing milk on people’s faces was, to put it mildly, unusual, the atmosphere was free and friendly
Jaroslav said he invited everyday people to participate, and that they truly enjoyed the photoshoot.
Speaking about artistry, the photographer observed that sometimes projects are finished in a couple of weeks, but they may take up to a few years as well.
